Innovative Wing Design

In order to maximize range and payload, Unmanned Air Systems technology has evolved from typical fixed wing aircraft to vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft that fly in a fixed wing configuration. The use of these VTOL platforms aboard ship is critical because it eliminates the need for specialized launch and recovery equipment. The purpose of this project is to develop an innovative wing design which can carry a viable payload at a tactically significant range.
